Ruark and Capstick question?

I am 16, and I have a couple questions about the writing works of Robert Ruark and Peter Capstick. I have heard several different opinions, but is "The old man and the boy" a fictional story, or was it an autobiography? Because having recently read the book, I hope that it is a true story,but I am still not sure. And for those of you who have read Capstick's books; do you feel that he embellishes his stories? because some of them seem a bit unbelievable. Also, another random question- If I enjoy reading Ruark and Capstick, would I also enjoy Hemmingway? is he similiar to the others?
