Fahrenheit 451 help please?
3. Montag and Mildred did not start out different at the beginning of the book. They both obeyed society's laws- Montag, working as a fireman and Mildred engrossing herself with her material possessions: the parlor (her 'family') and her seashells. Once Montag met Clarisse, he began to change and to see the wrongs of their society that he has ignored his whole life. Montag tries to englighten Mildred by reading books with her, but Mildred will have none of it. She won't get out of her comfort zone to view the society independently as Montag now does. These differences suggest that they truly do not care deeply for one another. They are not as compatible as they once thought.
