Breathing fire: What's non-toxic ?

Okay, the image of Gene Simmons and circus performers come to mind. I've heard of using parafin, don't know what it is, wax? Also kerosene. Are any of these non-toxic?? Pesonally I doubt it. Thanks in advance.
