Can I remove the baffling from my waterbed mattress?

Several months ago I bought a full sized waterbed off craigslist. Unfortunately the mattress was not drained right and there is a big ball in the middle. I do not have the patience to try and untangle it as the procedure described to me that "might" fix it is rather tedious. I'd rather have full wave anyway. Would it be possible to just pull the stuff out of the mattress or would that not even be worth doing so I should just go buy a new mattress.
