Is the Ca-19 every elevated and it is not Pancreatic cancer?
Cancer markers are not specific, meaning that they might be high but not because of cancer. Since they are produced by cells it may be high in another conditions like infections, inflammatory process, trauma etc. Cancer markers only are significant if they are in a high level with a demonstrated pathology and a cancer diagnosis, this is called sensitivity. It should be use in the follow up of cancer treatment only. If the cancer markers were ordered randomly alone without any evidence of cancer or a tumor on an study, and they are high; they will have to exam you thoroughly head to toe and demonstrate that there is no cancer.
